I am Prof. Dr. Jan Wouters, a Belgian legal scholar with a passion for international law and global governance. My journey has been one of intellectual exploration, teaching, and prolific writing.

At KU Leuven, I hold the distinguished position of Full Professor of International Law and International Organizations. This role allows me to delve into intricate legal matters, dissecting the complexities of our interconnected world. As the Jean Monnet Chair ad personam EU and Global Governance, I bridge the gap between the European Union and global institutions. It’s a dynamic space where I explore the evolving landscape of governance. My fingerprints are also on the Institute for International Law and the Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies, both of which I founded. These centers serve as intellectual hubs, fostering collaboration and advancing research. Beyond academia, I wear the hat of an Administrator of the America Europe Fund, facilitating dialogue and cooperation across continents.

I’m also an author, having published over 80 books150 journal articles, and 300 chapters in international books. My recent works cover topics such as global governance, human rights, international organizations, and corporate law.
